I would have enjoy the game more if I didn't run into these issues blindly. TLDR: I thoroughly suggest playing it as it's still a decent game but I felt the need to curb some expectations. once you learn more about the story it makes it worse too, I'd rather not spoil it. Yet, a whole civilization lived there for years. No houses, no pages, no books, literally nothing. The toys might have the same geometry as the world they created. The tools and toys you picked up in Myst felt real, as if they were tied to something in the game.

Like someone had actually lived there for YEARS and you were really stepping into someone's old life. The world of Obduction feels gamey, Myst felt real. At least in Myst you could tell what those diagrams were for so you didn't feel crazy. A lot of diagrams and pages that hint at something but is never actually in the game.

Character stops walking all the time and walking has this weird acceleration to it making it a chore. Lots of plot holes and things that were never explained. The story is badly told even if you read everything several times. The math based puzzles can be solved without even a thought sadly or even trying to figure it out. A particular puzzle doesn't even make sense even after you know how it works. Obduction has some major flaws too, pictures still get corrupted even 3 years after release. I did not really enjoy Obduction, I loved all the Myst games and all the books as well.
